Renewable Energy Jobs Jumped in 2016

The solar workforce increased by 25% in 2016, while wind employment increased by 32%, according to the US Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) 2017 US Energy and Employment Report. The DOE said that 800,000 workers were employed in low carbon emission generation technologies in 2016, although its definition includes “advanced/low emission natural gas”. The definition also included individuals who worked, in whole or in part, for solar firms; DOE said more than 260,000 of those employees spent the majority of their time on solar. Source: US Department of EnergyData lovers can also download a state-by-state version of the report.
